Prospective students must select one program and cannot apply to both. BS/MD Admission Requirements
Applicants to the BS/MD program must meet the following requirements:
A maximum of ten first-year students are selected for the program every year. Qualified applicants must complete a successful interview with College of Medicine faculty before they are admitted to the BS/MD program.

Applications will not be considered if BS/MD applicants have not applied for admission to the University of Toledo College of Engineering. Application materials for admission to the University of Toledo must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and not to the Department of Bioengineering. Please refer to Undergraduate Admissions for instructions on how to apply to the University of Toledo. BS/MD applicants should enter the Bioengineering code "BIOE" under the Intended Major section of the application form.
Application Deadlines
Applications will be considered if University of Toledo application materials are received by the Office of Undergraduate Admission before December 1st AND if the BS/MD application form and supplemental materials are received by the Department of Bioengineering before December 1st.
To have your most recent ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA considered for the BS/MD program application, the University of Toledo Office of Undergraduate Admission must receive your official high school transcripts and test scores no later than December 1st.
Selected applicants will be invited for on-campus interviews at the College of Medicine during February, and admission decisions will be made before the end of March.
College of Medicine Admission Requirements
To guarantee admission to the College of Medicine, students accepted into the BS/MD program must complete the requirements detailed in the University of Toledo policy 3364-81-04-010-03, Guidelines for the Bioengineering BS/MD Program. These requirements include:
Students admitted to the BS/MD program will interview with College of Medicine faculty before they are admitted into the BS/MD program and are not required to interview again before gaining admission to the College of Medicine. Furthermore, students admitted to the BS/MD program are not required to provide a score on the MCAT exam to gain admission into the College of Medicine following completion of the Bioengineering degree program. Guaranteed admission to the College of Medicine can be revoked if the student:
BS/MD students that lose their direct admission status may still choose to apply for admission to the College of Medicine. Should a BS/MD student lose their direct admission status and subsequently choose to apply to the University of Toledo College of Medicine, this student will need to proceed through the entirety of the regular College of Medicine admissions process, including submission of MCAT scores and interviews with the College of Medicine Admissions Committee if an invitation to interview is extended.
